Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a good week. Chris and I are doing some tree removal/fence work in our yard. Earlier this week we had nine large Pittosporums removed. It was chaotic and noisy but worth it. We now have a lot more sun light coming through our kitchen/dining room area. More
sun light = better photos. Hooray!
Next week the tree guys will be out here grinding down the stumps. Then we’ll have our new fence built —can’t wait! We’ve been fenceless for several days now and it’s weird when there’s no barrier and people can look/walk in.
Anyway, today’s recipe requires no introduction. It’s chocolate-y and it’s Nutella. Need I say more? Enjoy your weekend lovelies!

Mmmm. I have sworn to never mix anything into my treats until now.
What can I say…OMG! The quote in the magazine was “the combination of caramel and sea salt gives this childhood treat grown-up flavor!” So true!! I am trying to clear out some clutter and ran across this on a page I had torn out of “Country Living” magazine. I have no idea how long I have had it but I thought I would give it a try. Some of Quilties were coming over to sew on Tues, so I whipped these up and they were a big hit. Rice Krispie treats on “crack”. (no I don’t do drugs but they did prove to be addicting.)
Salted Golden Caramel Bars
Vegetable oil, for greasing dishes (I used PAM)
8 cups puffed rice cereal (Rice Krispies)
3/4 cup corn syrup
2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup packed light-brown sugar

I know what you’re all thinking…. SUZ, WHERE IS THE MEAT AND CHEESE?!?! After a much thought out debate, I decided to make this weeks installment dedicated to the veggies. With Summer quickly approaching, the grocery stores produce section is becoming much more vibrant and more fruits and veggies are coming into season. In all honestly, I’d have to say I didn’t even miss the meat and melty cheese in this delicious grilled sandwich. (Okay, maybe a little, but I’m trying to be healthy people!) Sometimes you can’t have it all in life and the same is true for your dinner plate I suppose; ).
I made over a 5 star recipe from Food Network’s very own Rachael Ray. Rachael used a creamy herbed mayonnaise spread for her sammy. I slimmed down her spread by swapping mayo for avocado and added some green onion, lime and roasted garlic. I shaved more…

Whew! I haven’t submitted a blog entry in quite some time. I am alive and I have been cooking! I will be making some changes soon.

I made some chilli right before going to work today. I put more veggies in my chilli than most people I know. In fact, I don’t think anyone has served me chilli with veggies other than peppers and tomatoes.While I don’t follow rules very often, I was curious….when is my pot of “everything that sounds good” no longer a pot of chilli? I put black beans, white beans, red kidney beans, ground turkey, chicken and poblano pepper sausage, sweet onions, green peppers, carrots, celery, mushrooms, and tomatoes in it today but I was about to use frozen corn too! What else sounds good? When should I stop?
